Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento is a two-campus hospital system serving Sacramento and surrounding Northern California communities.
Established in 1937, the Sutter Memorial campus of Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento was one of the first maternity hospitals in the state. Today it serves women and children throughout Northern California with routine care and advanced services for women experiencing high-risk pregnancies, infants and children with medical illnesses and conditions, and women with gynecological concerns. Services include pre-pregnancy planning and genetic counseling, pregnancy care, delivery, and newborn and children's specialty care.
Planning has begun for a new 156-bed maternal-child hospital that will expand services to pregnant women and their children when it is completed in 2010.
Though the vast majority of pregnancies and births are routine, families have the reassurance of being part of the Sutter Health system that provides advanced care for women experiencing high-risk pregnancies and newborns in distress. Sutter Women's and Children's services include special services for expectant mothers and the region's leading neonatal intensive care unit .
